
Annual Outdoor Gathering 2017 at Lancaster University
GOC's Annual Outdoor Gathering 2017 will be held from Friday 4th to Sunday 6th August at Lancaster University. Information about the facilities on offer can be found in the university's brochure Welcome to Lancaster Conferences.
The programme of outdoor activities includes a choice of walks and a cycle ride each day (Saturday and Sunday), rock climing on the Saturday, caving on the Sunday and a coach tour to a National Trust property on the Sunday. Provisional details for each event can be found by clicking on the links below.
Saturday 5th August:
- Arnside Knot & Silverdale Coast - moderate walk of about 8 miles
- Majestic Ingleborough - strenuous walk of 8.5 miles
- Yordas Cave & Ingleton Falls - fairly strenuous walk of 10.5 miles
- Leighton Moss & Wharton Crag - moderate walk of 7 miles
- Dolphinholme & Abbeystead - moderate walk of 8.5 miles
- Glasson Dock & Lancaster Canal - easy walk of 7 miles
- Cycle ride in the Lune Valley - moderate ride of 30 miles.
Sunday 6th August:
- Coach trip to Levens Hall, Gardens and Deer Park
- Barbondale - fairly strenuous walk of 8.5 miles
- Ingleton Waterfalls - fairly easy walk of 4.5 miles
- Nicky Nook - moderate walk of 6.75 miles
- Cockersand Abbey & Glasson - fairly easy walk of 9 miles
- Ward's Stone Fell - strenuous walk of 12 miles
- Cycle ride to Cockersand, Glasson & The Wyre - fairly easy ride of 23 miles
- Caving - preferred location is Lower Long Churn Cave near Settle.
