Organisation of walks

The Dorset group organises events throughout the year, usually on the 2nd Sunday of the month and the 5th Sunday starting at 10.00hrs

The typical walk length is 6 to 9 miles with a picnic enroute getting  back to our starting point in time for a meal/refreshments at a local pub; plus we are sometimes invited back to the leader's house for tea.

We also often hold midweek walks on the 4th Thursday of the month (which are shorter and include a pub lunch) starting a little later.

In addition there are social events and in the summer some short easy strolls on a Tuesday

Group profile

Our group consists mainly of men in the 40 to 70 range. We do have women on our walks and they are always most welcome.

Lunch arrangements

Most walks require participants to bring their own picnic, as there is no opportunity for refreshments en route and this is indicated in the event details.  We usually plan a refreshment break in a pub or cafe at the walks end and aim to finish in good time to allow for drinks or a meal after the walk. We give the phone number of the pub so that people can contact it if they wish in order to check menu/prices/need to book a table etc. The walk leader takes no responsibility for this.

Often our walk leader will invite everyone back home for tea after the walk.
