Welcome to GOC Sussex
GOC Sussex is a friendly, active and welcoming group for LGBTQ+ people and their friends. Whether you are a regular walker or joining us for the first time, you will be made very welcome.
Our events explore the beautiful and varied landscapes of East and West Sussex, including the South Downs, the Sussex Weald, Ashdown Forest and the south coast. We also occasionally join neighbouring GOC groups for walks and social events farther afield.
Our walks and events
We usually meet on the second Sunday of each month. Most walks are between 6 and 10 miles, although distances and difficulty vary to suit a range of abilities and interests. Please check the individual event listing for full details, including the route, terrain, meeting point and what to bring.
We normally bring packed lunches. Some walks end with fresh tea and coffee at the meeting point, accompanied by a delicious selection of homemade cakes supplied by our members.
Alongside our regular walks, we are keen to develop a wider range of social and outdoor activities. These may include shorter walks, meals, visits, cycling, weekends away and joint events with other GOC groups.
Joining us for the first time
You do not need to know anyone before coming along. Many people feel a little nervous before their first event, but ours is a relaxed and welcoming group, and you will soon feel at ease.

Most people travel by car, but we will help with transport wherever possible. If you are travelling by train and need collecting from a nearby station, please contact us in advance. We can often arrange a lift with another member travelling to the event. Several of our regular walkers also travel down from London by train.
