There are two ways you can join GOC:
There are 3 steps to creating an online account:
1. Create a Trial Account, which is valid for 4 months, by clicking this button
2. Verify your email address by responding to the email link you should have received
3. If you already have a Trial or Guest account you can become a member by clicking this button
You can pay by cheque or direct debit by downloading a membership form (in PDF format) and posting it to us.
To get involved with GOC it is best to create a profile on the site, which is free and simple. By logging in to your profile you will be able to see more of the site than if you are not logged in (see our Features page for details of what you can see). You can also subscribe to your local group to receive mailings from them to remind you of forthcoming events. To register just click the link on the right of this page.
GOC is a not-for-profit members club and all subscriptions go to cover its costs (no-one gets paid or takes a profit from the club). Joining shows your support for the club and there are lots of other reasons for you to join:
Gives all of the membership benefits described above. You will receive no post from GOC - Information about the club and its events will be found on this website, and we will send you e-mails about important club business. The annual cost is £17 when you join and pay online.
For an annual cost of £20 you could receive 10 issues of Outdoors magazine a year. The magazine contains the same information as the website but in a handy paper format.
Gives all of the membership benefits of web membership for 4 months so that you can come on a few events before deciding whether GOC is the club for you. Once trial membership lapses the account becomes a guest account.
Guest accounts are able to see the kind of events that are being run however they are not able to see details of the events and how to join them. If you see an event you would like to attend you will need to purchase memership to see the details.
GOC is a charity and is run with a tight budget, costs to members are kept to a minimum so that as many people as possible can benefit. We encourage everyone who uses GOC to join and not rely on members generosity.
We will tell you when your membership is due to expire. You can renew any time up to 90 days before the expiry date in either of two ways:
Please note that it is not possible to change from individual to the old joint membership (or vice-versa) during online renewal - if you wish to do so please contact the Membership Secretary before renewing.
