This is an opportunity for GOC members old and new from across the country to join each other to socialise and partake in a variety of walks and other activities.

We have booked exclusive use of Mankinholes Youth Hostel, near Todmorden and Hebden Bridge in the South Pennines, for the nights of Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th November.

The programme for the weekend includes:

• a pub meal on the Friday evening
• walk on the Saturday to Stoodley Pike and Hebden Bridge, with possible variants for those wanting to do a shorter or longer walk - see separate event listing here
• a communal meal and entertainment on the Saturday evening, with a 'Yorkshire and Lancashire' theme
• trip to Haworth on the Sunday, visiting the  Brontë Parsonage and the Keighley & Worth Valley railway
• alternative option on the Sunday of walk around Hardcastle Crags with a visit to Gibson's Mill and possible extension for those wishing to do a longer walk - see separate event listing here.

The South Pennines, on the border of Lancashire and Yorkshire, is an interesting area with its mixture of rural landscapes and industrial heritage. Mankinholes Youth Hostel is a characterful gritstone building, in a fantastic hillside location close to the famous landmark, Stoodley Pike, on the Pennine Way, Calderdale Way and Pennine Bridleway.

We have got an incredibly good price for exclusive use of the hostel, which means that the cost to participants, including the meals, will be very good value indeed. Participants will be expected to assist with preparing the two breakfasts and the Saturday evening meal, washing up, clearing away etc and ensuring the hostel is reasonably clean and tidy when we leave on the Sunday. They will also be expected to assist the organiser in ensuring we comply with the YHA's exclusive hire conditions. However, if everyone contributes, the amount of effort needed from each person should be quite small.
