The Trough of Bowland 

The Trough of Bowland is a wonderful pass through The Bowland Hills.  At the summit of the pass is an engraved stone marking the boundary between Lancashire and Yorkshire; the 1974 county boundary changes moved this boundary about 10 miles east just to beyond Slaidburn, but the old boundary stone remains.   Locals still call the Trough 'Boundary Hill'.

This is a hilly road ride of 40 miles taking in the Trough of Bowland, Dunsop Bridge, Chipping and a return along the edge of  the Calder and Grizedale Fells with long distance views over the River Lune Estuary. The maximum height reached is 295m at the summit of the Trough of Bowland.
