1/2 Not the only fern in the village!
Who remembers that 'only gay in the village from the TV series 'Little Britain' in the early 2000s? The same village has a renowned fern garden with a national collection of harts tongue. This garden is gay owned (they met on a GOC walk many years ago).
The rock garden is situated on a hillside in Cwm Brefi and the ferns are growing in individual stone circles. There are over a hundred different fern cultivars to see. Access to the collection is via steep steps and rocky paths in a stunning location overlooking Llanddewi Brefi. Admission £5. Sorry no dogs.
For more details and images of the garden, click here. Due to restricted access and parking, the number of attendees is restricted to six for this visit. However, visitors welcome by arrangement at other times between June and September.
Some of us will also be going on to see Cae Hir Gardens , an RHS Partner Garden, after this visit , where a pre-ordered lunch can be provided. Cae hir is about a 25 minute drive away.
Sould you wish to extend your stay in the area, other noteworthy gardens within an hour of this garden include NT Llanerchaeron, Aberglasney and the National Botanic Gardens of Wales.
Full details are available to members only
