2/2 Cae Hir Gardens & lunch
A Welsh garden with a Dutch history, Cae Hir is a true family garden created and maintained by the same family since 1983. It has a mix of ordinary garden plants and wildflowers growing in swathes of perceived abandonment. As an RHS Partner Garden, it gives free access in August to RHS members (member 1 only for joint memberships). Otherwise entry is £7.50. Dogs on leads welcome.
You can see an interesting recent TV clip about Cae Hir on ITV Wales here - it is about 16 minutes into the programme.
Some of us will be visitng the renowned fern garden Delfryn beforehand, about 25 minutes away and then having lunch in the tearoom at Cae Hir, which serves soup, drinks and homemade cakes. There is also the option of a pre-ordered lunch.
Should you wish to extend your stay in the area, other noteworthy gardens within an hour of here include NT Llanerchaeron, Aberglasney and the National Botanic Gardens of Wales.
