Gardens -Treborth Botanic Garden, Bangor - part of All Wales Weekend

Event Details

Approx. 10 miles from Llanberis & free admission attracted me to this garden. Treborth Botanic Garden comprises planted borders, species rich natural grassland, ponds, arboretum & orchard, Chinese Medicinal Garden, ancient woodland and a rock shoreline habitat. Six glasshouses provide specialised environments for tropical, temperate, orchid and carnivorous plant collections. The outside garden has free access to the public at all times and the glasshouses are open at selected times when staff or volunteers are present. Wheelchair access to the some glasshouses and part of the garden. The Wales Coast Path runs through the woodland and is surfaced but most of the borders are only accessed over the grass. Dogs welcome on leads. Owned by Bangor University and used as a resource for teaching, research and public engagement and enjoyment.

The Wales Coast Path runs through the garden so there is also  a good walk that can be done for people who aren’t interested in the garden. You can go through the woodlands, underneath the historic Britannia Bridge then along the Coast Path as far as you like! You can also go in the other direction and walk over the (also historic) Menai Suspension Bridge into Menai Bridge village where there are plenty of cafés.
