Carreg Cennen Castle – part of the Gwynfe weekend/50th celebration
This is part of the Gwynfe social/ 50th celebrations.
Details are here for Saturdays walk and the Saturday evening social.
This is moderately difficult walk of 5-6 miles is centred around the historic castle of Carreg Cennen and is situated in the Brecon Beacons National Park.
Along the way we take in lovely views of the surrounding Carmarthenshire countryside, the Cennen and Loughor rivers and the imposing castle from all perspectives atop its outcrop of rock.
There is one significant downhill / uphill climb near the beginning of the walk and a stick is recommended, particularly if there has been recent rain resulting in surface mud.
There is a good cafe / tea shop by the castle / car park, so there is an option to visit that for lunch at the end of the walk, if you wish.
Alternatively, you can of course bring your own packed lunch. The castle is privately owned, so there is an entrance charge to explore it up close.
Please note that the only toilets available on this walk are the ones in the tea shop.
Full details are available to members only
