St. Bees Head and the valley of Pow Beck

We had a wonderful day walking in the sunshine, on fantastic paths and in gorgeous countryside, and with good company and conversations on route.  The breeding seabirds on St. Bees Head were magnificent, with thousands of guillemots, and sightings of razorbills, kittiwakes and fulmars, as well as herring gulls with their fluffy young on the cliff tops.  Fleswick Bay at low tide was an unexpected delight.  We had scheduled the walk to end at 5pm, but all on the walk were so taken with the place and the conversation, that we end up returning to our start point a lot later than that - pure delight from beginning to end.
