  • Approx Distance 10 Miles
  • TerrainThere is a steeper ascent to Arnside Knott, but otherwise the route is more gently undulating, than difficult. Some sections of paths may be muddy, but mostly they are free-draining. We should be able to walk along the beach/shore for some of the walk.

A wonderful walk around the Arnside and Silverdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, along the coast from Arnside to Silverdale, and inland, in a surprisingly varied and undulating countryside of woods, and fields, surrounded by walls and hedges and with numerous field trees.  We will also ascend Arnside Knott, and see the 15th Century Arnside Tower, and other more recent historical features, such as the so-called "Pepper Pot" in Eaves Wood. There are also numerous limestone features, such as pavements, screes, boulders and crags, which contrast with the smoother green of nearby fields.  You are never far from the sea or sands of Morecambe Bay, and its influence is everywhere to be seen.
