The Bishop's Pond, Abergwili -- lunch with optional short walk beforehand
Bishops Pond is a site of special scientific interest lying adjacent to the former palace of the Bishop of St David's (now the Carmarthenshire County museum). The pond is an oxbow lake formed when a meander of the River Tywi got cut off from the main river.
It is a family friendly park surrounding Carmarthen Museum.
It has beautiful new gardens, historic parkland and woodland, a wildlife-rich ox-bow lake and great flood-plain meadow to explore, including a secret walled garden with its heritage orchard.
We will leave the park with our easy 4 mile approx. walk taking us to the area of White Mill and then back through fields to the village of Abergwili and the cafe in Bishop's Pond grounds for lunch, and where people can visit the interesting museum.
