### Free Entry ### Picton Castle and Gardens – Pembrokeshire’s finest historic house and garden – part of the All Wales weekend.

Event Details

Free entry on Saturday, 13th September as part of CADW's Heritage 'Open Doors' programme:  https://pictoncastle.co.uk/event/heritage-open-doors-weekend-september-13th/

Picton Castle and Garden is a tranquil immersion into 700 years of Welsh history. The wonderful 14th century castle was remodelled in the 18th century to create a sumptuous Georgian country home.

There are 50 acres of formal and informal gardens, a lawnmower museum and woodland to explore. This includes a walled garden which has had a £1.1 million restoration in recent years. The gentle climate on the West Wales coast nurtures a national collection of ferns, rare exotic flowers in their Jungle Garden and tree ferns.

There are free Castle tours by the Gardens Director every half hour in the afternoon, which can be booked on arrival (numbers limited to 20). Our table in the restaurant is booked for 1pm, but as it is likely to be very busy, service may be slow. I would therefore suggest that we book the tour for 3pm (or 3.30pm if 3pm fully booked).

There is an excellent Spanish café onsite, where we can have lunch, something sweet, or both!

Dogs on leads welcome in the gardens and café (only assistance dogs in the Castle).
