Northumberland coastal walk
Druridge Bay to Amble
Out and back walk along the Northumberland coastal path. Starting from the Druridge Bay country park we will walk alongside the sweeping beach of the bay, past the Hauxley nature reserve and into the fishing town of Amble where we walk round the harbour. We stop for lunch on the Braid overlooking the marina or the estuary before returning. Hopefully the tides will enable us to walk parts of at least one direction on the beach.
The start is flat and on quiet road and flat paths. Then the path then goes onto the dunes, which are more undulating and in dry weather soft sand underfoot may make walking harder. A little bit of road walking and round the harbour in Amble. Views of Warkworth Castle in the distance, but we won’t be climbing up to it, so other than in the dunes this is a fairly flat walk.
This is quite a way north of the group’s usual walks, but the area is amazing and well worth a weekend stay if the journey is too far for a day trip.
Toilets at start and in Amble.
