Loughor estuary, Parc Williams, Berwig nature reserve and Bynea
This is a 5-6 mile mainly easy walk starting on the Foreshore of the Loughor Estuary.
We make our way to Parc Williams which has the Wales coast path and a cycle path passing
through it. We will pass the 11th century Loughor castle, sadly all that remains are a tower and
gateway, with mounds and ditches tracing the original Roman fort.
We continue for a short stretch on the cycle path going over the Loughor bridge.
We will veer off to Bynea on some lovely green paths, circling back through Berwig nature
reserve and a caravan park, which leads directly onto the Wales coast path and cycle path, just for a
short stretch, giving us views over to Penclawdd, then taking us back over the Loughor
bridge to the start.
The weather on the day will dictate which way around I lead this circular route.
Refreshments in the Reverend James pub at the end or alternatively there's a lovely new cafe in Gowerton-- to discuss on the day.
