Llangammarch Wells to Llanwrtyd Wells--part of the HOW trail "weekend"

Event Details

This is an 8 mile approx. walk from just short of Llangammarch Wells to just after the centre of Llanwrtyd Wells at Barthddu on the main A483,

Llangammarch became popular as a spa town in the early 19th century.

The village grew considerably in size including the construction of several hotels to meet the increase in visitors arriving by rail from 1867 onwards.

The church of St Cadmarsh sits opposite the railway station, a building much restored in the 20th century.

As the route leaves the village there's a mixture of grassland and rush, ideal ground for snipe and curlew.

We will follow an attractive green tree lined bridleway and near to wetland and the source of the Camddwr.

We reach Llanwrtyd and then the route climbs ver the watershed between the Irfon and Bran rivers.
