Ingleborough
Ingleborough
Ingleborough is one of the Yorkshire three peaks (the other two are Whernside and Pen y Gent). This is a justifiably popular hill and if the weather is fine we'll not have the summit to ourselves. However, our ascent route is by little used paths and its only when we get to Little Ingleborough that we'll start seeing other people climbing the hill. The descent is spectacular, passing the 111m deep chasm of Gaping Gill, then through Trow Gill gorge, passing Ingleborough Cave, where there's a refreshment cabin. There's an option to finish off through the beautiful Clapdale Estate (there's a small entry fee) or alternatively by public rights of way that bypass the private grounds.
People intending to take part in this event should read GOC's document Safety in the Hills.
Numbers on this walk are limited to 15.
