Guided walk to see riot of Spring colour at Westonbirt Arboretum near Tetbury, Gloucestershire

Event Details

Following on from our wonderful visit in October 2024 (see report here) , we have been invited back again for another visit, where we will be hosted by their community team.

Members can bring non GOC members as guests - please e-mail me if you wish to do so.

The Old Arboretum should be a riot of colour with Magnolias, Rhododendrons, Azaleas, hawthorns, bluebells and horse chestnuts in bloom. Read an interesting Guardian article about the forest here.  One of  the volunteers is also a Westonbirt guide so she will be co-leading the walk for us. She will talk about the cultivated specimens and they will also be covering the wellbeing and wildlife aspects of the walk.

Following lunch,  we can have free time to explore the rest of the 600 acres. Silk Wood should be looking magnificent at that time, full of bluebells and trees coming into leaf.

Admission is £16. Those on universal credit/pension credit pay £1 - evidence required . Carers go in free.
