Communal Gardens of the Hyde Park Estate – Annual Open Day
Join Michael Daniels for a sociable saunter around seven of the private communal gardens of Paddington’s Hyde Park Estate. For 364 days a year, the charming communal gardens of Paddington’s affluent Hyde Park Estate are strictly residents-only spaces. They only open to the general public on one day a year, so this is a special occasion it would be very well worth attending!
Michael will lead us in a gentle exploration of the following communal gardens below,
- Gloucester Square
- Coniston Court
- Oxford Square
- Reflections 2020
- The Water Gardens
- The Quadrangle
- Devonport
These gardens are very varied, ranging from classic garden squares to 1960s Brutalist water gardens.
PLEASE NOTE: Tickets will need to be purchased in advance from the National Garden Scheme, but, as our GOC visit is weather dependent, as a first step please register your interest by booking yourself onto this event (below) in the usual way.
Then, during the week before the event (i.e. when a reasonably reliable forecast is available) we will contact you to confirm that it’s going ahead. You will then need to head to the NGS website to purchase your £8 ticket, which will allow you access to all seven gardens.
This event flows seamlessly into Martin Gilbraith’s GOC London Welcome Social later in the afternoon. (Because of the unfortunate closure of the City of Quebec pub, this will now take place upstairs at the King's Arms in Poland Street).
