Ffos Las and Pontyates
This is a lovely walk in a little known area.
It is mainly easy walking with one incline towards the end, back into the golf course.
The walk starts in Ffos Las woodland, a young woodland bursting into life, planted on the slopes of the Gwendraeth Valley as a memorial to lives lost in the First World War.
We will visit Yr Arwr (Hero), the war horse sculpture - see photo - at the end of the walk.
From the woodland we take a path around the golf course.
From there we descend onto an old interesting tramway, with old canal and quay, heading towards Pontyates where we will have a lunch stop.
Then there is a short walk by the road before making our way back to the golf course and back to the start.
There is a cafe a very short drive away for refreshments at the end.
