Cringlebarrow Woods

Unfortunately, Tim's ongoing treatment in hospital means he is unable to lead this walk, so we've had to cancel it. We wish Tim a speedy recovery and thank him offering to lead a walk despite his health being uncertain.

An easy 8 mile walk in the Southern half of the Arnside-Silverdale AONB, taking in the landscape of woodland, meadows, fields and even a lake (a rarity in limestone country).

Starting from Cinderbarrow car park - north of Carnforth just off the main A6, we'll walk to the pretty village of Yealand Redmayne then climb to enjoy fine views of Leighton Hall and Morecambe Bay.  We then descend through Deepdale woods, passing a pond (which has been empty since a major explosion at a nearby arms factory during ww1).  Traversing a pleasant landscape of woods and meadows we cross the causeway at Leighton Moss RSPB reserve, before entering a former quarry, now a nature reserve. From there we pass Hawes Water (not its more famous namesake in Cumbria!) before returning to the start through woodland and meadow.

Numbers on this walk are limited to 20.
