Chipping Fells

This is a hill walk from the delightful Lancashire village of Chipping that climbs the southern Forest of Bowland Fells of Parlick Fell, Fair Snape Fell and Saddle Fell.  The walk starts from the centre of Chipping, through some pleasant farmland to Fell Foot farm at the foot of Parlick Fell.  The climb up Parlick is the only sizeable climb of the day; the path skirts to the left of the hill in a steadily rising traverse, a short diversion can be made if we wanted to visit the actual summit of Parlick, else its onto Fair Snape Fell with its summit shelter and trig point, where we can take some refreshment.   From Fair Snape Fell, we walk over Saddle Fell before picking up tracks back to Chipping.

C8 miles (14km), 1500ft (450m) of ascent.

I've graded this walk 'moderate'; it should be within the capabilities of most regular walkers.

Note that dogs are not allowed on this walk because it goes on privately owned grouse moors where dogs are specifically prohibited by the owner.

Numbers on this walk are limited to 15.
