Blackpool Promenade Cycle Ride
The David Spencer Memorial Blackpool Cycle Ride
David Spencer was the original instigator of this annual cycle ride and we used to start the ride from his house on the outskirts of Preston. David died of cancer in the autumn of 2023 so we're doing this ride in his memory.
The ride is a flat 40 mile pedal cycle ride through the green fields of the Fylde to Knott End, where we cross the Wyre estuary to Fleetwood. We then ride the whole length of the Blackpool promenade to Lytham St Annes, where we will find a nice café to sit outside for tea and cakes.
This ride is suitable for any type of bike and is done at an easy pace.
There is a toll bridge to cross at Great Eccleston at a cost of about 20p per person and a ferry crossing of the river Wyre estuary at Knott End which last year cost £2.50 for a person and cycle. Make sure you have some cash for both these charges.
