***There is lots to do and explore in this area for non walking partners--for example heritage railways both north and south of Barmouth at Tywyn and Porthmadog plus nearby Dolgellau, Harlech with it's castle and the beautifully quirky Portmeirion.
There is also a lovely cycle trail from Barmouth --cycling over Barmouth bridge-to Dolgellau 9 miles each way, on a former railway track, The Mawdach trail. I've done it a few times and it's a fabulous cycle ride
A garage on right hand side just as you enter Barmouth does cycle hire: rates at present are £10 half day and £14 full day.Birmingham garage, phone 01341 280644
