Another Route March – Maida Vale to Hackney with addition to Lea Bridge
Yet another route march - a walk most people have done before, but at a pace to get the body some strong exercise.
As with other walks in the "route march" series, the walking pace will be about 2x normal GOC walks which average 2mph. We will cover the 15 miles in about 4 hours, with just 2 breaks.
The first non-stop segment is ~6 miles from Maida Vale to Ally Pally via Swiss Cottage, Hampstead Heath and Highgate Village. We will stop at the "palace" for 15-20 minutes to see the sites, use the lav, and read the BBC plaque if you haven't seen it before.
The second segement of 5.5 miles has a brief off license stop for softdrinks and covers Ally Pally to Hackney via Finsbury Park, Stoke Newington, Hackney Downs Park, to a lovely pub (see members information) where we will stop for drinks and lunch. More details in the members section.
The last segment is Hackney to Lea Bridge / Leyton to an LGBTQI+ hidden gem for more drinks - alcoholic or non-alcoholic both on sale.
Note the weather will be COLD and possibly snowing, and the small elevations of Ally Pally might increase the chance of snow. Best to use footware with good tread in slippery conditions.
