Aber Falls, Abergwyngregyn – part of the All Wales weekend 2027
This is a beautiful circular walk to Aber Falls/Rhaeadr Fawr.
We will do the slightly harder route to the Falls and the easier route back.
We ascend from the village, which is steep in places, but you will be rewarded with fabulous views out to Puffin Island and Angelsey.
The path then goes across moorland, and along the side of Ffridd Ddu with the path being uneven and stony in places.
We approach the smaller of the two waterfalls first, Rhaeadr Fach, then the impressive Rhaeadr Fawr, with it's fabulous cascade.
The route back is easier on a well maintained gravel path. We pass the remnants of an Iron Age settlement and the Aber valley hut circle,
which was built around a Bronze Age standing stone.
We follow the path back, with the last bit on the road back to the car park.
There should be a cafe in the village for refreshments at the end of the walk.
