A circular walk of 6.61 miles from north-west Hertfordshire, within the north-eastern exclave of the Chiltern National Landscape, barging into Central Bedfordshire and tickling the edges of Luton.

The route samples the Chiltern National Landscape, the Chiltern Way, Galley & Warden Hills local nature reserve (and site of special scientific interest), views over Luton, a golf course, the mouth of Dray’s Ditches (an ancient scheduled monument), and the Icknield Way Path (said to be the oldest road in Britain).

This is a pilot walk, meaning that it is untested specifically for this event. The route is plotted onto GPS and uses tracks that the walk leaders have used in the past. Accordingly, expect some wrong turns, occasional confusion, bad language, temper tantrums and smashed tiara.

The route includes significant uphill stretches.

The route is exposed. Wear appropriate warm clothing.

Wear sturdy boots. Expect surface mud and some surface flooding.

Bring packed lunch, water and something to sit on. There are no shops en route.

Optional pub stop at the end of the walk.

Public transport access to the start point is theoretically possible, but the journey likely borders on unreasonable.
