MK Boundary Walk 1 - Woburn Sands Circular - Short 7.5mi
Complementary to the longer linear walk (~13 miles), we also have a shorter circular walk (7.5 to 8 miles) both starting at the same time and same place.
We will be walking together for about 4 miles, so you can choose at around noon which walk to do. The shorter walk is a pleasant stroll past golf courses and through the familiar mature woodland of the Bedford Estate and back to the cars, around 14:30. The longer walk follows the MK Boundary path via Aspley Heath to Great Brickhill, then along the Grand Union canal, skirts Bletchley and finally across pleasant fields to Newton Longville for tea and cakes. Both are quite sheltered and very pleasant walking. There are some gentle hills but the main slope is a descent. There are few stiles. These are lovely walks and have a wide variety of views, countryside and paths. We will arrange cars to return drivers to the start for the longer walk.
Please note - they will both start at the earlier time of 10:00.
The longer walk is the start of a bigger project to complete the MK Boundary walk. We’ll split the full 62 miles into 5 or 6 linear walks over a few years and try and have a shorter circular walk as an alternative each time. The next walk will be from Cosgrove to Newton Longville.
