Markyate, Caddington and Kensworth Circular Walk
This will be a circular walk of about 10 miles starting in the village of Markyate in north-west Hertfordshire, and of course, we traverse the borders of Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. We will enjoy the edge of the Chiltern Hills, just behind Dunstable Downs. The Chilterns are a great area for walking - rolling hills, many woods, picturesque villages with ancient churches and colourful cottages of brick and flint.
Bring lots of water, packed lunch and something to sit on.
Wear sturdy boots. Much of the route is exposed.
Optional pub stop at the end.
Update 02Sep2023: recent rain left a few spots muddy, might have dried up nicely by Sat 09 Sep, please keep an eye on the weather forecast. At the start of the walk, a local bakery looks likely to be open for a fresh, emergency bacon roll. More details below in the members-only section.
