
Winter Wonderland in Wendover Woods and Canal
8.5-mile (13.7 km) circular walk from the market town of Wendover at the foot of the Chiltern hills in Buckinghamshire.
Lowest: 335 ft (102 m) Highest: 860 ft (262 m)
We will walk along the Wendover Arm of the Grand Union Canal and its nature reserve toward the village of Halton skirting the edge of RAF Halton and the majestic Halton Hall before ascending to the highest point in Buckinghamshire (264 m) at Wendover Woods.
We will stop for lunch at the café (indoor/outdoor seating) available.
Here we will have magnificent views and photo opportunity.
Wendover Woods are managed by the Forestry England. The woodlands are a mixture coniferous and broad-leaved trees.
Muddy in places, especially along the canals.
On returning – opportunity to visit local pub.
Toilets available at start and lunch stop.
