"Yr unig hoyw yn y pentref, dw i!" To be honest, when I used to watch Little Britain, I had no idea there was a real place called Llandewi Brefi until I moved to Mid-Wales two years ago. Tregaron I had heard of, but did not know that it was set in such beautiful mountain scenery . The idea of the walk came from Alys Hawkins's Teifi Coroner series book Those Who Know. After the logistics with the cars for a linear walk we drove to Tregaron for the coffee and pastries which are essential for any GOC event and then the four of us plus one Carpathian Mountain dog set off for our destination some four and a half miles away. The weather started off chilly but the first of the ascents soon warmed us up as we left Tregaron. We crossed fields, walked along farm tracks and forded the three streams without mishap. We didn't meet Dafydd, but I suspect GOC being out in force caused him to keep a low profile, however, we did see lovely countryside, red kites being mobbed by crows and lots of sheep set against the autumn colours as well as enjoying each other's company. With the cars waiting for us at Llandewi Brefi we managed to make it back to the cafe in Tregaron before it closed.
