Rambling Witham Friary, Somerset on 3rd August 2025

Nine members enjoyed a splendid eight-and-a-half-mile walk through fields, meadows and woodland around Witham Friary, near Frome with nice warm weather and a bit of rain in the middle. We learnt a bit about the former Witham Friary and saw the site of the long-gone buildings. It went with the dissolution of the monasteries in 1536/1541.  We negotiated many, many stiles, saw some horses and glorious oak, fir and beech trees. And, on our way back, we enjoyed a bit of Roman Road carpeted by wild flowers. Some members finished their outing with a visit to the local pub, The Seymour Arms.

This was a lovely walk devised and led by Bill, much appreciated.
