Milton Keynes Walk Sunday June 24th 2024

June 2024 Milton Keynes and Buckinghamshire Walk

The June 2024 Milton Keynes This walk was a circular route of 8.75 miles from  Caddington, towards  Kensworth,  and through Markyate (Hertfordhsire).

The Group from start to finish was 12 in total men and the lovely furry friend Teddy also joined in.

A warm welcome back to the lovely Simon who joined us after years away providing loving care and dedication to Melvyn C. also a former GOC member who sadly died recently.

The walk had shade in full-leaf woodland and parts that were exposed.  Pleasant but a tad warm in the sunshine but no complaints about that.

The walk provided glorious views of rolling curves of countryside, a mixture of agricultural land under crop with the occasional abandoned  The route included the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty,

Lunch was at a Kensworth Green with some benches and a picnic table to avail of for comfort and chat a repass that was alfresco.

The final leg of the route to Markyate ran through the graveyard of Markyate church. In this churchyard is a grave to mark the first victim of a hit-and-run traffic incident, William Henry Clifton, who died on 18 Apr 1905, aged 4 years old.

5 members settle for refreshments at the delightful Chequers public house- wetting our whistles in the heat of the sun in a shaded part of the beer Garden.

Company as ever jovial and friendly always a pleasure to walk and converse with members to cement friendships and our common bonds.
