A small but enthusiastic group attended the first RHS Badminton Flower Show, in the beautiful South Gloucestershire countryside. Badminton House is a historic, privately-owned Palladian mansion in South Gloucestershire, England, famous for giving its name to the sport of badminton.
The Main Stage hosted talks and some of us enjoyed seeing actors from the BBS Radio 4’s The Archers, which is celebrating its 75th anniversary this year. There was also a lovely Archers’ Show Garden to explore.
Despite the heatwave, we enjoyed wandering around the various show gardens, displays and plant stalls. Did a bit of celebrity spotting & it was interesting to watch them filming for BBC Gardeners World.
We shared our thoughts on what we were looking at, and debated on what to buy. We enjoyed a nice leisurely lunch under the trees and some ice cream also went down well.
As always, the company of fellow enthusiasts was the highlight, and we departed in high spirits, laden with our purchases, having made plans to meet up again at the forthcoming AOG.
