Enjoying our second ‘Indian summer’, this 8 mile, figure of 8 walk took in the chalk downland both sides of the Piddle valley, skirting Doles Hill Plantation to the east and Heave Coppice to the west. Our lunch stop was at the very popular Thimble Inn in the picturesque village of Piddlehinton, visiting the 15th Century St Marys church beforehand.
Near the walks end found us in the hamlet of White Lackington, once home to the milking parlours of 4 small local farms, but now an enclave of expensive properties.
Andrew our leader invited everyone back for a cream tea at his second home at walks end, a hitting end to a lovely day.
