Snowdrops at Wye Valley Sculpture Garden

We visited a sculpture garden in the Wye Valley with a renowned collection of snowdrops, that have been built up over 50 years. As we greeted each other, it was nice to give a warm welcome to one new member on his first outing, and another attending his second event. After a short chat about snowdrops, we followed the meandering paths around the garden, admiring the vast swathes of white flowers and also other plants in bloom, including hellebores, cyclamen and early daffodils. The sweet smell of the evergreen shrub Sarcococca hookeriana also tickled our nostrils. Chat flowed easily as we talked about what we were looking at.

We enjoyed looking at the many fine sculptures that were around the garden, and discussed what we liked or not and why.

Luckily, the weather remained dry throughout. We rounded off our visit with drinks and cake, where we all sat and chatted, relaxing in each other’s company. It was a delightful few hours and a great start to our programme for 2026.

Many thanks to all who joined us and hope that you can join us on future events. As always, ideas for places to go welcome!
