8 DAYS WITH LINCOLNSHIRE GOC
The week started with 20 men and women, and several dogs, enjoying a 6 mile walk along the Viking Way/ Lincolnshire Ridge with magnificent views and weather. After dropping below the Ridge, we clambered back up to the top (Who said Lincolnshire is flat?), incentivised by the promise of well earned liquid refreshments at the pub above.
For the next few days Val completed her preparations for our stall at LINCOLN PRIDE (Pictured before the crowds arrived!). An impressive job! Several of us then leafleted hundreds of visitors, answering a wide variety of queries, the day ending with a walk for members and new enquirers around Lincoln's historic buildings and hidden gems.
That was yesterday. Today we split into 2 groups, one visiting beautiful Doddington Hall and gardens, together with the GOC Gardens Group, the other joining East Midlands Group for a joint walk amid delightful countryside near Melton Mowbray (Thank you Steven for such a lovely walk and amazing weather!) Oh! And did I mention the pub visit at the end?
A few of us will be meeting for social get-togethers over the next week or two, before our next walk (Branston), where there is a choice of 3.5 mile or 7 mile walks, and a choice of finishing at the local pub, or Branston Home Guard Club (Another drinking establishment!)
