Waltham Cross & Forty Hill
A circular walk of 10.4 miles featuring Lee Valley, Rammey Marsh, Enfield Lock, Enfleld Wash, Turkey Street, Forty Hall, New River (including the old course), Theobalds Park (aka Cedars Park).
Terrain includes pavement, footpath over grass, soft bridleway, field & field edge, towpath and park track. There are four stiles and three staircases (bridges over roads/railways).
Elevation ranges from 17m to 72m.
On the final test of the walk, on 04 May 2019, the Forty Hall gardens were full of colour, with plenty more flowers still to emerge. At the end of walk, we should take in the late afternoon light in Theobalds Park (weather permitting).
Bring packed lunch, plenty of water and something to sit on. Wear sturdy boots or trainers. Expect some mud.
There is no pub stop at the end of this walk.
The route excludes Waltham Cross High Street, which is the location of the Eleanor Cross, ~5 minutes walk from the start point.
