A circular walk from Thornton Hough on the Wirral.  The walk is 9 miles with very little ascent and is a pleasant, varied and interesting walk (with five stiles).  We head north along a road , passing Thornton Manor then turning West to walk by Manor Wood and across fields to cross the A540. We walk SW across fields to Boathouse Lane then down the lane to path NW via Backwood Hall Farm and Heswall Golf Club to Gayton. We walk down to  the Dee River and walk along the old quayside into Parkgate for optional ice-cream and great views of North Wales.  We then head NW along lanes, quiet road and pretty paths back to Thornton Hough for cool beer or hot tea. There maybe some mud on final path into village.
