Scorton and Ellerton Lakes
Scorton and Ellerton Lakes are a series of gravel pits which have been developed into lakes and nature reserves with some watersports available at the Ellerton end.
From the North Carpark we follow lakeside tracks to pass under the road close to the South carpark, expect to see swans and other water birds enroute. From here we follow more lakeside tracks to the quaint hamlet of Ellerton on Swale.
Here we leave the lakes and follow field paths to reach Bolton on Swale where we will pay a visit to St Mary's Church, one of our members was once a Choir Boy here.
From here we have a little road walking to reach the village of Scorton which boasts the largest raised village green in the country.
After passing through the village our final leg takes back to the lakes and we will pass a windsock which stands as a memorial to the airbase which was here during WW2.
