This event is a visit to an art gallery at a museum followed by an ad lib amble around Hertford.

Hertford Museum is hosting an exhibition of John Godden's paintings, titled, "The Way I See It."

Says the museum, "John Godden painted the world around him, like no one else, finding beauty where others saw the everyday or the unsightly.  His LGBT+ portains illustrate the hidden lives of many gay men in the 1960s.  Discover his unique talent in this exciting new exhibition."  Note that the exhibition contains sexualised nudity, rating the exhibition for ages 16+.

"The Way I See It" runs from 24Feb2024 to 02Jun2024.

Hertford Museum runs three other exhibitions, two of which are permanent.  The fourth exhibition, "Ties of Friendship", about Hertford's twin towns of Evron and Wildeshausen, runs from 05Mar2024 to 19May2024.

It looks like entry into the Museum and exhibitions are free (to be confirmed).  Accordingly, if you attend this event, please consider a donation to the Museum during your visit.

Packed lunch is optional, but please bring drinking water.  Wear comfortable footwear.

An optional cafe and an exploratory amble around Hertford follows the museum visit, up to the event's expected end time of 2.30pm.  Saturday is market day in Hertford.  There are loads of cafes, from the simple basic caff to the terribly over-posh, along with the usual big-name chains.  An amble around the town might include visits around the remants of Hertford Castle, visiting two churches, essential window shopping, a stroll around Hartham Park and its riverside.

The museum is all indoors, so expect stairs.  After the event, the amble around Hertford is all outdoors, on the flat and on hard-standing, with no mud expected.

This event is suitable event for new members to GOC, being an event shorter in distance and in time than Herts GOC normal walk events.
