Rowarth to Lantern Pike & Cown Edge
A 7.3 mile circular walk from the pretty hamlet of Rowarth, Derbyshire on the edge of the Peak District not far from New Mills and Marple.
We follow a packhorse route, forming part of the Pennine Bridleway, around Lantern Pike and then ascend to Cown Edge, the highest point of the walk. There are excellent views of the Sett Valley, Kinder Scout and beyond on a fine day.
Equipment: walking boots, warm clothing, waterproof jacket and trousers, sun hat, sun cream, trekking pole(s) if normally used, insect repellent.
