A 6-mileĀ circular walk through the parks and balancing lakes in south west Milton Keynes, taking in Howe Park Wood, Shenley Brook End, Loughton, the Tear Drop Lakes, Furzton Lake and Emerson Valley.
Howe Park is mentioned in the Domesday Survey of 1086. Parts of the wood may be rare surviving fragments of the wildwood that covered the whole of lowland Britain after the last Ice Age, 6000-11000 years ago. These days Howe Park Wood is a tranquil oasis, humming with wildlife and colour (OK maybe not so much in December) and is a site of Special Scientific Interest.
