Join us for the circular walk around Mow Cop, the Old Man of Mow and Scholar Green with stunning views Westward across Cheshire as far as the Clwyd Hills and Northward to Manchester and its skyscrapers (subject to the weather of course).  There will be a fairly strenuous ascent of about 190m near the beginning of the walk along field tracks/paths and woodland up to The Old Man of Mow which is a very large free standing stone with spectacular views.  Shortly after we will pass close by Mow Cop Castle which is a folly built in 1754 with yet more amazing views.  The  straightforward descent to Scholar Green will be along good quality tracks and lanes plus a short section of the Macclesfield Canal.  From here we will return to the start going past Little Moreton Hall (closed on the day) and along another section of the canal.
