JOGLE Day 68 Wotton Under Edge to Old Sodbury
The Trailblazer guide to the Cotswold Way says, 'If the walk lacks drama, it certainly makes up for it in nomencature' so forgive me for references to them.
We leave Wotton Under Edge climbing the lane up Blackquarries Hill and descend through woods, then in the open with a fine view up Nanny Farmer's Bottom.
From Wortley down and up to Alderley, along a tree lined track, then lane passed Lower Kilcott. Turn right on a wooded path, before a climb to an open path to view the tower commerating Lord Robert Somerset's efforts at Waterloo.
Turn right on Bath Lane just before Hawkesbury. We bear right down through trees to emerge with the National Trust property Horton Court to our right to reach the road and Horton village. Then a bumpy walk to Little Sodbury, past a manor house, up over Sodbury Camp (Iron Age Fort) and into Old Sodbury. Many go to Old Sodbury for the Dog Inn.
