After crossing the Callis Bridge over the Rochdale Canal we climb, first steeply, upĀ  for about 300m to Stoodley Pike with 125 foot iconic tower (pike). From then on we remain high on the Pennines walking over undulating peaks

First round 4 reservoirs, Warland, Light Hazzles, White Holme and Blackstone Edge to reach the A58

Then past the ancient Aggin StoneĀ  and up over Robin Hood's Bed before crossing M62.

A short distance to the A672. Then up White Hill and it's trig point and on to the A640.

Beyond the path runs on top of an escapement and on to Standedge on A62. Here we leave the Pennine Way to walk 1.5 miles down the hill to Diggle.
