Today we start by following the river out Malham to it's confluence with the river Aire, and then a straight route over to Gargrave leaving the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and to cross the Leeds and Liverpool Canal.

Undulating field paths to Thorton in Craven, over open moorland to Lothersdale, along field paths to Ickenshaw, up High End Lowe on Ickenshaw and  Oakworth Moor, down aside Dean Clough to Hobbs Lane, where I leave the Pennine Way to walk along road to the Old Silent Inn thinking of Heathcliff and Cathy out of Wuthering Heights.
