High Barnet to Kentish Town green corridor walk [date option 3 of 3]
PLEASE NOTE THAT THE WALK LEADER WILL RUN THIS WALK ON UP TO 3 DIFFERENT DATES, 1, 9 AND 15 AUGUST, TO ENABLE MORE MEMBERS TO ATTEND. 5 PLACES ARE AVAILABLE ON EACH DATE AND BOOKING IS NECESSARY. PLEASE DO NOT BOOK MORE THAN ONE OPTION. IF YOU ARE ABLE TO, PLEASE FILL UP ONE OPTION BEFORE OPENING BOOKINGS ON ANOTHER.
The walk will take us from High Barnet station (Northern Line) mostly on footpaths to Hampstead Heath, on to Parliament Hill where, if it is clear, we will enjoy panoramic views over London. We will finish at Kentish Town Station (Northern Line and Thameslink) where you can take the train back to Central London, High Barnet or St Albans.
From High Barnet Station we will follow the Dollis Valley Green Walk passing through, Brook Farm Open Space, Whetstone Stray, Riverside Walk, Oakdene Park, Windsor Open Space, Mutton Brook, Little Wood, Big Wood to Hampstead Heath Extension. Once on the Heath we will visit Parliament Hill. On leaving the Heath we will continue on pavements and down alleyways to Kentish Town Station.
The route follows a green corridor into London with over 80% on green spaces and traffic free footpaths (some shared with cyclists). The remainder is on roads with pavements including half a mile through Hampstead Garden Suburb and part of the last mile to Kentish Town Station.
At the end of the walk there are two decent pubs next to the station, where those that want to can chill out over a pint (or two)!
