
Hereford City centre tour, including a public art trail – afternoon walk – part of the women only weekend
This is an afternoon walk to start the women only weekend.
It will start and finish at the Cathedral.
I suggest you visit the Cathedral before or after the walk, and there is the option of refreshments at the end of the walk in the Cathedral cafe.
Cathedral and cafe open until 5pm.
From the Cathedral we will explore Green castle park and cross the Victoria bridge walking alongside the River Wye.
We will come back into the centre of Hereford and walk up Widemarsh street.
This is an interesting area which has existed for centuries. Buildings on this street stand over 15th - 17th century cellars.
We will wander along up to a statue of Allan Leonard Lewis who was killed in action in 1918.
Returning down the street we will enter Blackfriars which was the site of a Priory from 1319.
It has been transformed in recent years and is now Blackfriars Rose gardens, a quiet patch of greenery in the City.N
